– On 2 December 2025, peacefully at Burwood Hospital, after a long, hard-fought battle with Myotonic Dystrophy.  Aged 69 years. Cherished husband and soul-mate of Sandra for 46 years.  Much loved “Hooman” Dad to Cooper. Dearly loved and respected son-in-law of the late Tom and Evelyn Pearson, brother-in-law of Russell and Lynn.  Cherished uncle to Luke and Dayle and families. Messages to the MacKenzie family, PO Box 472, Ashburton 7740.  In keeping with Wayne’s wishes a private cremation has taken place and a celebration of Wayne’s life will be held in the New Year. Special thanks to staff at Burwood Hospital [Ward C1], Christchurch Public Hospital [Ward 19), and the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (Respiratory Unit) for their care and support of Wayne. In lieu of flowers donations to the South Island Branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of NZ in honour of Wayne would be much appreciated and can be made online.
